Church News 02/12

1) CHURCH PLANT LAUNCH TEAM MEETING TODAY, 1-3PM: This meeting will be held immediately following our worship service and includes lunch. During this meeting, we will discuss the vision of the new church plant, which launches this fall, and what it means to officially be part of the launch team, as well as tangible next steps for us. All are welcome to come to this meeting to learn about joining the launch team.

2) STORY BEHIND THE CHURCH PLANT NAME: ANCHOR COMMUNITY CHURCH: In the fall of 2016, after much prayer and discussion with leaders in all congregations, we sensed that God was calling us to this next phase of our English congregation. God has been faithful in building up our congregation up to this point, but as we looked out at our community, we began to dream about how we could better reach out to those who are currently unconnected to any church. We see many who, though externally prosperous, are struggling to find meaning and identity amidst the many pressures of career, school, family, relationships and a tumultuous political climate. We also firmly believe that there is great power in the gospel of Jesus, and that he offers us much more than good morals and a ticket to heaven. Rather, he is the sure and steadfast anchor for the soul (Hebrews 6:19), giving us a new identity that can root us in the storms of life. We dream of young families, young adults, and college students coming to find this anchor for their souls.

3) OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE: If you are not currently serving in our church, there are many opportunities. Multimedia team, Children’s ministry, Youth Ministry, Worship Team, Welcoming Team, are just a few examples. If you would like to use your gifts and passions to serve our church, please speak with Pastor Ben or any leader.
